The American Wine Society: Philadelphia Chapter – The Cork Dorks

I’m excited to share the news that the little wine tasting group I started last year has officially become the Philadelphia Chapter of the American Wine Society (AWS).

We call ourselves The Cork Dorks and meet once a month to be dorky about wine, drink, learn, and geek out about great wine! The group started off with about 8 random people I had never met in my life that I connected with via a Philadelphia Wine Facebook group and they have quickly become very enjoyable wine friends.

We’ve grown from the original 8 to an email list of about 45 already (45 people do not fit in my house though). We are constantly on the look out for new locations we can meet at and enjoy incredible wines together with a great balance of learning, wine discussion, taste testing, and wine-socialization. One of the highlights is that wine lovers also tend to be food lovers so the restaurant recommendations from the group have been incredible. Check out this article about the best BYO restaurants written by our Chapter Sommelier, Arindam Basu.

You can get more information about The AWS Philly Cork Dorks at our website here if you’re interested in coming to an event. Space is always limited but we love meeting other wine lovers.

I started this group to learn more about wine and share wine I pick up from my travels with people who will appreciate it and I’ve already learned so much from them! I’ll keep this update nice and short but I’m excited to share some wine highlights that I learn with this group of wine dorks. You can check out my article about Virginia Wine here for further reading :). Cheers to your next glass of wine! Today I’m drinking an old-vine California Zinfandel, and it’s delicious! What are you drinking lately?
